Additional Constraints > Elements

Additional constraints are sets of constraint conditions (result values of a given reference   state, which must have a certain value or must not exceed an upper or lower limit)   and freedom conditions (loadcases, which are factorized in an appropriate manner.  to fulfill the constraint conditions)

The schedule action Restart must later be used to solve the system  of equations and inequations, with the factors of the variable load cases as unknowns and the constraint conditions forming the right-hand side.

The constraint conditions are specified in Additional constraints > Elements.  Here, in Additional constraints > Loads, the variable load cases are defined,  which will be appropriately factorized to fulfill the constraint conditions. Additionally,   "fix" load cases and envelopes are specified. The sum of these forms - together with the variable load cases - the reference state  for checking of the constraint conditions.

SettingDescription
Upper table Table of Additional Constraints (sets of constraint conditions and related freedoms, which form the equation system being solved in a certain Restart action.
SettingDescription
Number Number of the "Additional constraint" (referenced in Restart)
Excl(Var) Defines, whether the specified fix load cases contains the variable load cases (e.g. if a summation load case is specified as fix load case).
NoHist Option for disabling the improvement of the equation system  by using the iteration history.

SettingDescription
Kw Code, characterizing the type of the result value
  • NDMOM: Deflection value of a node or force of a nodal support
  • ELMOM: Deflection or internal force value at the begin or end of a structural element
  • ELSTR: Stress value of a stress point at the begin or end of a structural element
  • ELTND: Tendon force of the specified tendon at the begin or end of a structural element
From, To, Step Series of nodes or elements with the specified result value being limited
x/l Only for element results: position in the element (only 0.0 and 1.0 allowed)
DOF Result value to be limited (M = moment, N = normal force, etc.)
Tnd Only if ELTND selected: No. of the tendon profile with the total tendon force being limited.
CS pnt Only if ELSTR selected: Name of the stress point with the  concrete stress being limited.
Res.type Confined specification of internal force results (ELMOM)

Normal/Split/Join and Total/Primary/Secondary respectively

Val-min Relevant limit value (deflection, internal force, stress, tendon force) in accordance with the above specification.
Operator Definition, whether the result value shall be equal to the specified value Wmin, or whether it shall be greater, smaller, or between Wmin and Wmax.
Val-max Upper limit value, if the selected result value shall be between 2 limit values.
Factor Weighting factor for the result value
CombEnd It is possible to set the condition for the sum of several result values. If the CombEnd is "No", the respective result value will be added to the result value specified in the next line. It will itself not be constrained (limit value and  operator definition ignored). The first subsequent line with CombEnd = "Yes" will then be related to the corresponding sum of previous values.
